1. Edit the config.ini file which is located under the "data" folder and change the value of ExternalConnectionStr from N to Y. If the parameter does not exist in the file, add the following new line to the file:
ExternalConnectionStr=Y
This will force the UsageTool to use an externally supplied Connection String instead of calculating it internally.
2. Open the Usage Reporting Tool executing the script Run.bat (If version 9, use usagetool_run.cmd instead of Run.bat)
3. Click on "Next" to start
4. On the column Environment, put the following string, and fill the other columns with the database information (Host, Port, User, Password, Database)
jdbc:oracle:thin:@//<hostname>:<port>/<oracle_service_name>
Replace "<hostname>", "<port>", and "<oracle_service_name>" with the actual values.
For example, if your hostname is "thisOracleHost", your port is 1234, and your Oracle service name is "myOracleService", your Environment value would be:
jdbc:oracle:thin:@//thisOracleHost:1234/myOracleService
5 - If the connection data is ok, you will see the following screen:
6 - Select "Next" and check all data extracted from the database.
Note : If there is a need to add a Control-M/Enterprise Manager environment against postgres database :
On the column Environment, put the following string, and fill the other columns with the database information (Host, Port, User, Password, Database)
jdbc:postgres//<hostname>:<port>/<database name>
Replace the values inside chevrons (e.g. <hostname>) with the actual values of those fields, and do not include the chevrons.
