How do I create a dashboard chart that shows the number tickets closed today and tickets created today with the status of those tickets?

To create the chart we need to do 3 things:

1. Create a search to retrieve the data
2. Create a report with the chart
3. Add the chart to the homepage

 

1. Create a search for tickets opened or closed today

Click on Manage Searches
 

 
New
Properties
Name :  Open or Closed today
Type :   Shared – Allow other to add or edit this search
 

 
Search In :
Select required Item
 
 

 
Search For:
Common.Created On range today
OR
Common.Status = Closed
AND
Common.Updated on range today
 
 
 
Display Fields:

 
Common.Record Number
Common.Status
Common.Title
 
Publishing Options:

 
Include this Advanced Search in the list of data sources for Service Analytics

Save

 

1. Now we have created the search we need to use Service Analytics to create Chart

Click on Service Analytics
New Custom report

 
Report Setup:
Title:  Received vs Closed
Record Type: Select type required
Report Visibility:  Shared / Available in Dashboard and Consoles
 
Configuration:
Saved Search:   Select saved report -  Open or Closed today

 
Selected Fields:
Status
Incident Number
 

 
Apply Changes

 
Records are displayed


 
Now create Chart:

Click on Chart

Label Column:  Status
Data Column:  Incident – Sum – Show Value
 

Save report
  

1. To add the chart to Dashboard

Click on Customize


Widgets – Click on Chart

Drag Chart onto page

 
 
 
Select Report and Chart Name
 

Save
Refresh page

Chart is now displayed
