I am trying to attach a file to a ticket, either on the interface or through email and get the following message: FootPrints Service Core Error: 203 mrAttach error: DBD::ODBC::st execute failed: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]String or binary data would be truncated. (SQL-22001) [state was 22001 now 01000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The statement has been terminated. (SQL-01000) at D:\FootPrints\\cgi\SUBS\mrAttach.pl line 192, <ATTACHFILE> line 7. |
While there is no limit to the number of attachments, there is a limit to the total number of characters used in the filenames that can be added to the mrATTACHMENTS column for each record. You have a user trying to add an attachment to and they are getting a DB 203 error, and the entry would be truncated. This is because by adding that new attachment, and appending the current entry in the mrATTACHMENTS column for that ticket, the list of attachments names will be more than the maximum allowed for the column (default is 2000). Have your DBA run the following SQL script to increase the size of this column: use footprints alter table MASTERX alter column mrATTACHMENTS varchar(MAX); Where 'X' stands for the workspace number where the issue is occurring. To determine what the workspace number is go to Administration -> System -> Workspaces Under List All Workspaces use the Click here to see a list of all Workspaces, and their Workspace and Address Book numbers. This will double the amount of data that can be stored in this column. These same steps can work on truncation errors involving other columns in your database tables, however, care should be used on the amount of space that is allocated. A maximum of 8000 characters for the column can be used, but only in extreme circumstances as the database server has a limit on the total row length. |
