The following information pertains to FootPrints Service Core version 12.0 through 20.x:

When the Tomcat used by FootPrints 12.x is integrated with IIS (see How to integrate IIS and the FootPrints Service Core 12 Tomcat server) and an attempt is made to upload an attachment larger than 30MB to a FootPrints ticket, an error as seen below occurs:

Invalid response. Unable to decode server's response to JSON.

You may as well get this type of message in the UI:


This problem occurs due to a 30MB upload limit in IIS 7+ and is not indicative of a defect in FootPrints 12.x. The steps below indicate how to increase the limit in IIS. It should be further noted this problem does not occur if no integration exists between Tomcat and IIS.

The steps below should be followed to increase the 30MB upload limit in IIS 7+ to 300MB:

1. Open IIS and expand Sites-> Default Web Site.
2. Select Default Web Site and open Request Filtering.
3. Select the Hidden Segments tab.
4. Select the Web.config and click Edit Feature Settings link on the right-hand Actions pane.
5. Change the value in the Maximum allow content length (Bytes) value from "30000000" to "300000000" (add a 0).
6. Click OK.
